Depending on the processor, we may also receive a purchase referral source and contact preference flag. We do not send marketing emails regardless of any contact preference setting. We do not receive or store your credit card number. We retain transaction records from our payment processor for order processing and customer support purposes.

When You Activate the Software:
During one-time activation, the software transmits:
- Software version
- License information and product key
- Anonymized computer identification number (a hash, not your actual hardware IDs)
- Windows OS version and preferred language
- Partial, irreversible hash of IP address (not the full IP address)

This data is transmitted via TLS 1.2+ encrypted connection. After activation, the software can operate 100% offline. Optional update checks are controlled by the user and can be skipped, permanently dismissed, or blocked by firewall.

When You Check for Updates (Optional):
If you choose to check for updates, the software contacts SteadyMouse servers over TLS to determine whether an update is available. This request may include the current software version and limited license/technical identifiers needed to check update and licensing status. Update checks do not transmit usage data, mouse movement, behavioral telemetry, or medical/accommodation information.

When You Visit Our Website:
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics collects standard internet log information and visitor behavior patterns. This information is processed in a way that does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of visitors to our website. When You Contact Support:
If you email us for support, we retain your correspondence to help resolve your issue and improve our service.

Gumroad is our current payment processor and acts as Merchant of Record for standard purchases. They handle all credit card data and sales tax collection. Gumroad provides us with purchase details including a contact preference flag (which defaults to "yes" for all purchasers) and approximate geographic information. Gumroad states that information is stored on servers in the United States, and that information may be transferred to the United States or other locations where Gumroad or its service providers operate.

We use Google Analytics to understand website traffic patterns. No personally identifiable information is intentionally shared with Google Analytics, and Google Analytics data is handled under Google's analytics policies and controls.

Our website and activation servers are hosted on DigitalOcean in New York City and San Francisco, United States data centers (encryption at rest).

Google Workspace (internal records): https://workspace.google.com/terms/dpa_terms.html
Used for internal business records backup in Google Sheets, including copies of activation logs, optional update-check logs, and Gumroad new-order records. Protected with 2FA and passkeys. Google Workspace data-region coverage depends on edition and configuration and does not cover every data type, such as logs and cached content.

Intuit QuickBooks (invoicing): https://www.intuit.com/privacy/statement/
Used for invoicing purchase order customers. Processes customer name, address, and order details. Intuit may store and process personal information in the United States and other countries under its privacy statement.

Fastmail (business email): https://www.fastmail.com/policies/privacy/
Our business email is provided by Fastmail, an Australian company. Fastmail states that its main servers are in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, and its secondary site is in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

*** Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using the third-party service providers listed above. DigitalOcean-hosted website and activation data is stored in New York City and San Francisco, United States data centers with encryption at rest. Copies of activation logs, optional update-check logs, and Gumroad new-order records are stored in Google Workspace / Google Sheets for internal records backup. Activation, update-check, and website traffic use TLS/HTTPS. Data handled by third-party services is subject to those providers' policies listed above.

*** Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information indefinitely unless you request deletion. To request deletion of your personal data, email support [at] steadymouse.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request." We will process your request and confirm deletion via email.

Your Rights (GDPR/CCPA):
Regardless of your location, we honor the following upon request:
